Hernando Audubon takes an active role advocating for conservation issues of importance to counties that comprise the Nature Coast.

Recent and ongoing activities include:

  • Working to strengthen Hernando County's landscape ordinance.
  • Supporting Pasco County residents opposing the siting of a landfill in an environmentally sensitive area.
  • Participating in the formation of the Withlacoochee River Alliance, a group working to protect water quality.
  • Advocating on behalf of wildlife corridors threatened by development.
  • Supporting Hernando County's Environmentally Sensitive Lands Program.
